April 2nd, 2014 - 5:41am

(SEQUIM) Four Captains and an Assistant Chief from Clallam County Fire District 3 in Sequim, have participated as incident command trainees during the recent Oso land slide.

Fire district officials say the lessons they learn during the Oso incident could very easily become a real rescue and recovery operation here in Clallam County making their training invaluable.

District spokesperson Patrick Young says the group took part in FEMA disaster response training last winter. Part of the training requires work in incident command training at an actual event.

Personnel that responded to Oso included: Assistant Chief Ben Andrews, Captain Bryan Swanberg, Captain Chris Turner, Captain Derrell Sharp, and Captain Marc Lawson.
