Vets' center in PA set for upgrade

April 3rd, 2014 - 6:44am

(Port Angeles) The Clallam County Veteran's Center in Port Angeles is poised to get an upgrade and remodel. Clallam County commissioners this week gave the go ahead to proceed with a 166-thousand dollar project to the building on South Francis street.

County parks, fair and facilities director Joel Winborn says there are a number of items that will be upgraded in the building ranging from new windows to other improvements to the interior. The list of the items was developed in discussions with Veterans' Affairs.

Winborn says currently the Veteran's Center offices are operating out of the adjacent annex area. He says with the remodel of the main building, there would be enough space to move all the offices into that building and the annex could be torn down to make way for needed parking.

The money for the project was already in the county's budget this year.
