PORT ANGELES)-- The Port Angeles School Board will move a step closer to a bond issue to go before voters next year.
Tonight, the board is expected to appoint a pre-bond facilities steering committee. The group will be charged with getting and sharing information on issues surrounding the bond and passing that information on to another committee running the bond issue.
Director of Finance and Operations at Port Angeles School District, Kelly Pearson says the group will also examine how much of the district's bond capacity should be used when going before voters.
Pearson says part of the planning will involve managing the capacity of the bond to put on the ballot.
The district plans to put a bond issues on next February's ballot. Voters will be asked to approve a bond somewhere between $80 to $100 million dollars that will be used to build a new high school in Port Angeles. But the district will have some bonding capacity above that.
