(Port Townsend) -- The Coast Guard says an unidentified boater is lucky to be alive after his small sailboat flipped near Port Townsend Saturday.
Other boaters called the Coast Guard who witnessed a small sailboat capsize about 1 pm Saturday. One person was reported in the water.
A 45-foot response boat and helicopter from Port Angeles were called in for the rescue.
By the time the Response Boat arrived on scene the sailboat skipper had managed to right the overturned sailboat and was on board. The Response Boat crew threw a line to the distressed sailor, helped him aboard and took his sailboat in tow.
Both the sailor and his 19-foot handmade sailboat were transported safely to the Point Hudson Marina in Port Townsend.
