Gabbard holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Piano Performance from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin; a Master's degree in administrative leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; and Ph.D. in educational leadership from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He has worked in public education for 21 years, including five years as a K-8 vocal music teacher; nine years as an assistant principal and principal; three years as a rural superintendent; and four years as a central office director.

Gabbard is very excited to join the leadership team of Port Angeles School District.
He stated recently, "The quality of educational attainment of Port Angeles's students, good work accomplished by PASD's teachers and principals, and the sound district leadership and stability of the system attracted me to live and work in such a vibrant community.
Having lived in Estes Park, the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, it is exciting to relocate to such a beautiful area where Port Angeles serves as the gateway to Olympic National Park."
Gabbard looks forward to collaborative work with staff, parents, students, the board, and community members.
His contract begins July 1st, 2014.
