(Port Angeles) – A commercial geoduck diver was critically injured in a diving accident.
Yesterday morning, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate the accident that occurred off Green Point, west of Dungeness.
24-year-old Samuel Silverstein of Bremerton had gone into distress. Fellow divers found him unconscious in about 50 feet of water. He was brought to the surface and taken on board a Department of Natural Resources boat where CPR was started.
Silverstein was taken by ambulance to Olympic Medical Center and then was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center where officials say he is in the intensive care unit on life support.
The sheriff's office says there does not appear to be anything suspicious or criminal in the investigation.
