NOLS to form citizen panel for new Sequim library

May 1st, 2014 - 5:05am

(Sequim) -- The North Olympic Library System' s efforts to replace its Sequim branch will now include a citizen advisory panel in hopes of getting community input.

The library director, Paula Barnes, says that the advisory panel is not a new development.

Another consideration for a new Sequim library includes a possible partnership with the Sequim School District in a combined facility located on the high school campus. Although this concept has been tried in California with some success, it has yet to be tried in Washington.

Barnes is set to retire at the end of this coming June, but says that her replacement, Margaret Jakubcin, is up to speed with this project.

The Sequim branch of the NOLS accounts for roughly 40% of the library system's overall circulation.
