Former Sequim basketball coach in court today

(Port Angeles) A former girls high school basketball coach will be back in court today.

28-year-old Jerry Jeff Pedersen is charged with communicating with a minor for immoral purposes, class C felonies, after having a relationship with a Sequim High School girls' team member. He is making a first appearance on the charges today.

Pedersen was arrested last month after authorities say he and the 15-year-old girl texted and sent sexually oriented pictures to each other in March.

Court documents say the couple were engaged in a romantic relationship.

Pedersen had been a volunteer coach for the Sequim High girls' basketball team last season.
