Bulldozer rampage suspect back for another hearing
May 2nd, 2014 - 5:33am
(Port Angeles) – The man accused of destroying houses and a pickup truck with a bulldozer a year ago, is back in court today.
Barry Swegle could have a trial date set today in the case. Lawyers also plan to present a motion to amend information in the case.
Last week, Swegle was declared competent to stand trial.
Swegle faces multiple charges, including burglary and malicious mischief, related to the incident last May in Gales Addition. Prosecutors say he hopped on a large bulldozer and leveled or damaged four homes, smashed a pickup truck and knocked down power lines in an apparent dispute with his neighbor.
Swegle was originally found incompetent to stand trial last fall and was sent to Western State Hospital for treatment. Earlier this month he rejected a plea deal to serve about five years in prison.
