City of PA pursuing grants for stadium and waterfront

May 2nd, 2014 - 5:36am

(PORT ANGELES) -- A series of grants are in the works for the city of Port Angeles that are aimed at improving the city's waterfront and Civic Field.

Four grants are under the umbrella of the Waterfront and Transportation Improvement Plan, while the fifth grant for Civic Field falls under the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program. The city council this week gave the go-ahead to the grant applications.

Nathan West, the city's community and economic development director, says the grants total $3.6-million dollars once the fifth WWRP option for civic field lighting upgrade is included. The city expects that these grants should be reviewed, and hopefully approved by state officials by this fall.
