Winners of retail marijuana store lottery site announced

May 2nd, 2014 - 9:22am

(Olympia) We now know who will hold the licenses and the locations for retail marijuana stores in Clallam County.

The state liquor control board has released results of a lottery held last month to award the licenses. The state is allowing three at-large stores in Clallam County, two stores in Port Angeles and one store in Sequim.

The Hidden Bush and Weed-R-Us are located within a block of each other east of Port Angeles near Kemp Street. Those two along with High Grade Organics at 100 La Push Road in Forks, were the top three lottery ranks for at-large county stores.

Pacific Education at 536 Marine Drive and Sparket at 1403 E 1st Street earned top rank as the two Port Angeles permits.

Emanon Systems at 755 W Washington in Sequim was top rank for that city's only allotment.

A favorable rank in the lottery doesn't guarantee a license. Applicants still have to pass a background check, financial investigation and other requirements before any licenses are actually issued. The first retail sales are expected to begin in July.
