Old Olympic Highway project set to start

May 7th, 2014 - 5:32am

(Port Angeles) – Clallam County will continue its improvement of another portion of the Old Olympic Highway next month. The reconstruction will start in June from Barr/Gunn Roads to the McDonald Creek bridge.

The project will involve a coordinated effort between Jordan Excavating and the PUD to prep the road for widening. County Engineer, Ross Tyler says work on the expansion could begin in the next few weeks. Crews will “grub out” the shoulders. Next, the PUD will move the utility poles before actual work to widen and pave the road begins.

Although it won't be a four-lane highway, Tyler says the road will be wider and match other widening that has gone on in the area in the past. The McDonald Creek bridge will not be included as part of the widening project.
