Arts group looks to community for ideas on historic PA theater

May 7th, 2014 - 5:34am

(Port Angeles) Can the local community do something with the now-shuttered Lincoln Theater in downtown Port Angeles?

A community forum tonight will tackle that issue. The Port Angeles Arts Council will hold the forum tonight at Studio Bob at 118 E. Front Street. The forum will run from 6 to 7:30 pm.

There are no formal plans yet for the theater from any local group, but organizers say they want to hear from the public on ways the community might be able to use or repurpose the theater.

The nearly 100-year-old theater closed down at the end of February. Sun Basin Theaters said it was too expensive to upgrade the facility to handle digital projection.

The theater is expected to go up for sale later this month.
