(PORT ANGELES) The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society continues to raise funds as part of its “Dig Deep” campaign to build a new facility.
A recent “Meowgarittas and Mutts Dinner” brought in $75-thousand dollars toward their overall goal of just over $1.1 million dollars.
Humane society executive director Mary Beth Wegener says attendance for the fund raiser April 26th doubled this year, and generous donors helped them get closer to their overall financial goal.
Wegener says the “Dig Deep” campaign still has a ways to go to reach the overall goal. She says plans to start building the new facility on old Olympic Highway are moving forward. She says they plan to break ground late this summer, even though all of the money has yet to be raised. .
