Fire at PA Hardwoods mill
May 8th, 2014 - 7:54am
(Port Angeles) – A fire at a Port Angeles mill was contained to duct work.
PA Fire was called to Port Angeles Hardwoods about 6:30 last night.
When crews arrived, they found smoke and embers coming from ducting inside one of the structures at the mill.
Mill workers helped firefighters by cutting holes into the duct work. Fire captain Jamie Mason says the fire was tough to get to due to the elevation of the ducting. The fire was contained to the duct work.
No one was hurt and there's no estimate on damage or how the fire will effect long-term mill operations.
Mason says the fire capped a busy three days for the department. During that period, the Department has responded to 52 calls for service, including 3 multi-vehicle accidents.
