(Port Angeles) – Two of three Port Angeles business groups have given approval to move closer to merging.
Friday, the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce Board unanimously approved PA United moving into the next stage.
PA United is made up of three representatives each from the chamber, the Port Angeles Business Association and Port Angeles Downtown Association. The group has met for nearly 120 days hammering out a strategic plan to grow the business climate in the area over the next five years. The plan is the frame work of a new structure that would bring the three separate groups into alignment using a task force-based organization. Each of the task forces would elect members to a leadership board, which would have fiduciary control and supervise staff.
PA United plans to develop a budget and look at funding and staff options among other things and make a final presentation at the end of June.
The Port Angeles Business Association also unanimously approved moving forward last week.
The Port Angeles Downtown Association board was unable to vote on the measure last week and is still looking over the proposal.
