(Port Angeles) Unemployment rates in Clallam County took a steep drop in April.

According to state figures, the county's jobless rate was at 7.6 percent. That's down almost one and a half percent from March's 9.1 percent.

The area saw more than 200 more employed in April than in March. But the labor force also was reduced by more than 100 people in the same period. Most of the job increases came in services, like utilities and hospitality and leisure industries.

Last April, unemployment was at 9.1 percent. Jefferson County's unemployment rate also dipped similarly, to 7.3 percent.

Statewide, the unemployment rate was at 5.6 percent.
