Company planning to open PA detox facility meets public

(PORT ANGELES) – The company that plans to open a chemical dependency in-patient and detox facility in Port Angeles, hosted a meeting Tuesday night and fielded questions from the public.
Sally Beaven is with American Behavioral Health Systems and will manage the facility.
She knows that a rehabilitation facility typically raises concerns for the public.
The proposed facility, at 825 East Fifth Street, hopes to open with 16 in-patient beds, normally accommodating them for up to a 30-day stay.
In addition, another 16-beds would be available for a separate detoxification program.
The facility's management team hopes to target patients from the Olympic Peninsula who are currently being sent to other facilities in Tacoma and Kitsap for treatment.
Spokane based A-B-H-S says that 30 jobs for clinicians and line staff would be created once the facility opens.
The City Planning Commission will hear public comment, and vote on the conditional-use permit on June 11th.
