Bike event, parade set for Saturday in PA

June 6th, 2014 - 5:30am

(PORT ANGELES) A two-hour bicycle parade emphasizing safety will be held on the Port Angeles waterfront Saturday afternoon.

It's known as the “Bike to Everywhere Parade”, and is organized by George Bergner, director of the group Port Angeles Likes Bikes. The event is open to all riders, but focuses on children as a way to keep them interested in bike riding through their adult years.

Bergner says that this event changed over the years to focus on the children.

Teams of “helmet technicians” will be available from local bike shops to demonstrate, adjust and fit helmets. All children who attend the helmet demonstration corral will earn a children’s bicycle license inserted in a Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department lanyard.

Participating bicyclists should assemble for the parade by 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Front Street waterfront lot, across from Family Medicine, 240 W. Front St., west of Oak Street.

Further information is available by phoning Bergner at 360-797-4752 or emailing him at: george@portangeleslikesbikes.info.
