(Port Angeles) – There's been an apparent rafting accident this afternoon on the Elwha River about a quarter-mile north of the McDonald Bridge on Highway 101.
The Clallam County Sheriff's office was notified about 3 p.m. that 3 people had fallen out of a boat into the river, but had made it safely to the west bank.
Medical aid units were notified to standby at the Highway 101 Elwha Bridge as one of the three boaters, a woman in her 40's, had possible broken toes.
Deputies had contacted the boaters by cell phone.
The party was walking south along the river bank toward the 101 bridge to meet a Lower Elwha Klallam tribal officer, who was heading downriver on foot.
