Local pool to participate in world's largest swimming lesson

June 13th, 2014 - 5:41am

(PORT ANGELES) According to the Guinness Book of World Records, it's the world's largest swimming lesson, and it's coming to Port Angeles on Friday, June 20th.

The event will take place at the William Shore Memorial Pool in Port Angeles, and is part of a simultaneous, world-wide swim lesson. It's meant to emphasize water safety by teaching children to swim to help prevent drowning, but adults are also invited to the event.

Christy Wojnowski, the Aquatics Manager at the Shore Pool, says pools all over the world will give lesson simultaneously. That west coast adjustment time means the event will run from 8:00 to 8:30 AM at the William Shore Pool. Children six years old on up through adults are welcome. The event is free, but registration is required. That can be done at the pool or by going to their web site at williamshoreoool.org.
