Officers cite more local infractions in Click It or Ticket emphasis

(Port Angeles) -- Extra law enforcement patrols wrote 40 seatbelt infractions last month in Clallam County.
Between May 19th and June 1st, officers patrolled area roads looking for unbuckled drivers and passengers, and drivers using cell phones to text and talk. It was part of a statewide “Click It or Ticket” emphasis.
During these extra patrols at the same time last year, officers wrote two seat belt infractions.
This year's total include one felony and one misdemeanor warrant arrest, 21 speeding violations, four child passenger safety infractions as well as five uninsured motorists and three suspended and non-valid license violations.
Last year, during the same time period, officers on extra patrols statewide issued more than 29-hundred seat belt violations amongst more than 11-thousand motorists who were stopped and almost 19-hundred cell phone and texting violations were written.
