Port Angeles to be renamed "Pink Angeles" for cancer support effort

June 17th, 2014 - 5:33am

(PORT ANGELES)-- Port Angeles has gone pink.

This is part of the “Pink Up Port Angeles” campaign to raise funds for the local cancer patient support group, “Operation Uplift”.

Soroptimist International of Port Angeles sponsors “Pink Up”, now in its 6th year, and their volunteers hope to beat last year's fund raising effort of $50,000-dollars.

Linda DeBord, is the organizer for “Pink Up”. She explains how your financial contributions through “Pink Up” are used to provide practical assistance to Clallam County residents battling cancer.

Fund raising activities in Port Angeles include “Pink Out the Pier” on Wednesday night at 6:30, a golf tournament at the Peninsula Golf Club on Friday, a bake sale on Saturday at Swains, and the all you can eat spaghetti dinner at the Chestnut Cottage, on Saturday, June 28th.

The Port Angeles city council tonight will declare a name change for the city to Pink Angeles and city vehicles will carry pink for the rest of the week.
