Port Angeles approves $1.2 million stormwater project

(PORT ANGELES) Port Angeles city officials approved a contractor to begin work on the 4th Street Stormwater Project. Jordan Excavating of Port Angeles, was awarded the job at Tuesday night's city council meeting.

The project calls for retrofitting eight different intersections with a means of reducing pollutants that find their way into water runoff.

Another portion of the project will be some pipe conveyance upgrades to the sewer system along H Street, between 6th Street and Marine Drive.

Total costs on the project are listed at $1,257,000-dollars. Of that amount, grant money is expected to cover almost $870-thousand dollars, leaving the city to handle $387,561-thousand dollars in funding.

The project is expected to get underway in July and should be complete by October of this year.
