(Port Angeles) – A Port Angeles man arrested after a dramatic chase and gunpoint-arrest this weekend was just sent to prison in three months ago.
42-year-old Preston Smith was arrested after he ran from police in his vehicle and then led a foot pursuit through parts of west Port Angeles Saturday afternoon.
The chase began when police tried to stop Smith, knowing he had an outstanding state Department of Corrections' warrant. He had reportedly violated terms of his probation.
Earlier this year, Smith was sentenced to three years in prison on drug charges and leading police on another chase.
Smith had signed agreements to the charges in January and was sentenced in March. A previous methamphetamine charge from 2010 was also tossed in that arrangement.
