(Port Angeles) The County Commissioners got a preview of the annual Risk Management Report for the County at their Monday work session by Human Resources Director and Risk Manager, Rich Sill.
The report gives commissioners the latest risk management techniques the county uses as part of its affiliation with the Washington Counties Risk Pool. Clallam County is one of its 27 members.
The pool is a public agency co-op, created by inter local agreement. Since 1988, it pools resources to cover counties' liability coverage.
Sill says one of the methods used to mitigate a potential claim or lawsuit, is what's termed a rapid response team.
Sill says that last year, Clallam County paid out on seven general liability lawsuits totaling $592,506 dollars.
It also had one auto-related liability lawsuit, in which it paid $10,705 dollars.
As part of the state risk pool and based on its size, Clallam County is tasked with assuming a $100,000 deductible for claims it pays out.
