(Port Angeles) -- Extra law enforcement personnel will be participating in special impaired driving Emphasis patrols in Clallam County and throughout Washington State.
Clallam County Target Zero Project Manager Jim Borte says Summer is the deadliest time of the year on our streets, roads, and highways.
As part of Washington State’s goal to reach zero traffic deaths by 2030, extra law enforcement teams will be working together to stop drivers who drive impaired, speed, fail to use their seat belts
and or break any traffic laws.
Borte says the extra patrols will be out through Labor Day looking for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Borte tells us that distracted driving includes the increasing problem of cell phone use and texting while driving.
Several law enforcement agencies will be participating in these emphasis patrols, including the Washington State Patrol, Port Angeles and Sequim Police and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department.
