Carlsborg Wastewater plan to be submitted to state DOE
July 7th, 2014 - 2:14pm
(Port Angeles) -- Clallam County Commissioners have approved submitting the Carlsborg Wastewater Facility Plan to the state Department of Ecology.
The draft-amended scheme has been completed by the county's consultant, Gray & Osborne, and is ready for submittal to Ecology for their review and approval.
Public Works Administrator Bob Martin says Ecology has 120 days to complete the review, but he's hopeful the process will only take a couple of months.
The plan builds upon and is an amendment to the June 2012 Carlsborg Sewer Facilities Plan prepared by B-H-C, which received conditional approval from Ecology in December 2013.
The plan recommends connection of a new Carlsborg sewage collection system to the City of Sequim Water Reuse facility.
Commissioners Monday received a summary and explanation of the plan's recommendations.
Martin says while Ecology is reviewing the plan, the county is already working on the design work.
During Ecology's review, there will be a concurrent period for review by the public, other agencies and stakeholders, and the Carlsborg Community Advisory Committee.
Additionally, the State Environment Policy Act or SEPA process will begin, providing an additional avenue for review and comment.
Once Ecology's review and approval is complete, the plan will come to the County Commissioners for consideration of comments or revisions, and adoption.
