PA business group consolidation plan pitched

(Port Angeles) – A group working the past six months towards a plan for uniting the Port Angeles-based business groups makes its final proposal tonight.
PA United will present a recommendation for a consolidation of the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce and Port Angeles Business Association during a board retreat with boards from both organizations.
Originally, the plan would've also brought in the Port Angeles Downtown Association, but that group's board dropped out of the plan a month ago.
In the past six months, the PA United effort has developed a plan to reduce redundancies that would save at least 45 thousand dollars a year. It reorganizes duties into five task forces ranging from local promotions and events to government affairs.
The proposal includes a five-year strategic plan with measurable goals for growing community and business opportunities locally.
Among other changes, it also calls for formation of an adjoined, non-profit foundation that could be used to raise tax-deductible donations for projects in the area.
Dues for the new organization, being labeled as the Port Angeles Chamber Business Alliance, are expected to remain close to the same as they are now.
