Port Angeles named a top small city in U.S.

(PORT ANGELES) Port Angeles was just named one of the nation's top ten small cities.

“Livability.com”, a web site that touts itself as listing the best places to live and to visit, conducted a study of towns with populations under 20,000 and Port Angeles placed 5th in its rankings that are based on: Cost of living, health care spending, racial and soci0economic diversity, adult obesity, crime, civic engagement and the local environment.

Some of the specific points for Port Angeles that rated high in the survey were its highly-ranked natural amenities, low food costs, low crime and high community involvement. The city's downtown area was noted for its cafes, galleries, gift shops, bookstores and restaurants, sculptures, murals and other artwork. The Olympic National Park and the Olympic Discovery Trail was noted as a pristine playground for hikers, bikers and skiers. The famed local Dungeness crab was also spotlighted along with the city's annual Crabfest.
