PA Chamber board votes for next step in possible consolidation

(Port Angeles) – The Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce is taking another step to possible remaking of business groups in Port Angeles.
The chamber's board yesterday unanimously approved beginning information sessions with its membership. It will form a committee to gather feedback on a recently-released proposal to reorganize the business groups in town. The information will come back to the chamber board for a recommendation on how next to proceed.
Two weeks ago, PA United presented the proposal to consolidate the chamber, Port Angeles Business Association and the PA Downtown Association.
The downtown association has pulled out of the talks. But chamber board members said they felt it was important the largest business group in town remain a leader in the change effort.
The PABA plans to talk about its next steps in two weeks.
PA United was formed more than six months ago, made up of representatives of the three PA centered business groups. It was charged with exploring plans to bring better efficiencies and strength to the business groups in Port Angeles.
