PUD moves ahead with Carlsborg expansion

(CARLSBORG) – Clallam PUD Commissioners have voted for the next step in a multi-million dollar consolidation project for the utility's operations.
Commissioners this week agreed to put out for bid three new buildings in Carlsborg.
The buildings will house administrative offices, engineering, and dispatch offices along with a substation shop.
The new buildings are part of a larger consolidation the PUD is undertaking, moving most of its operations to Carlsborg and the former Costco building.
PUD GM Doug Nass says the new center will make things easier for PUD customers as several different areas of expertise will be consolidated.
The PUD will advertise for bids on the project the first part of August and hope to have a contractor selected and begin building by this September.
Nass says they plan to have the new facility up and running by September of 2015.
Nass says the PUD's customer base has shifted east and the utility has outlived its aging administrative building in Port Angeles.
Nass is unsure about the fate of the Port Angeles facility, but says it most likely will go up for sale.
