Popular ONP lake trail to close for summer

August 1st, 2014 - 6:16am

(Lake Crescent)-- A portion of the Spruce Railroad Trail will close next week, as Interwest Construction Incorporated out of Burlington starts to resurface a portion of the 9.5-mile path that runs along Lake Crescent.

This is the third phase of the project, which when finished, will make the trail universally accessible for a variety of outdoor enthusiasts.

Clallam County is funding the project, and will use some federal grant money it has had for nearly three years to do the engineering and construction of the sections.

The Spruce Railroad Trail project involves construction on several different portions of the trail, some of which are not yet fully planned. The County provided an estimated completion date of 2018.
