Streamkeepers program changing to meet funding

(Port Angeles) – Clallam County's “Streamkeepers Monitoring Program” is looking to obtain a grant that could possibly change the way they monitor and collect environmental data from our county's waterways.
Streamkeepers is a citizen-based watershed monitoring program, which functions within the County's Public Works/Roads Department. The group collects stream health data, performs data entry and analysis, and conducts education and outreach.
Ed Chad, who manages the program for the County, tells us why the Streamkeepers are preparing for a change in the way they do business.
Streamkeepers is seeking a $30,000-dollar, non-matching grant to change the sampling frequency from its present quarterly schedule, to a monthly intake process. Chad also feels that the grant could also cover the costs for upgraded sampling equipment.
