NEAH BAY, Wash. (AP) - The Coast Guard has located and rescued a solo diver who was reported missing in thick fog near Cape Flattery on the northwest Washington coast.
The Port Orchard, Washington, diver was reported to be in good condition Tuesday. He was taken to a hospital in nearby Neah Bay for further medical evaluation.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Jonathan Klingenberg says a concerned friend of the diver called for help via VHF radio on Tuesday morning, saying the diver had not resurfaced after the proper amount of dive time. The friend said he was unable to locate the diver on the water's surface due to thick fog.
A Coast Guard boat crew out of Neah Bay found the diver waving his arms at the water's surface.
