Forks boy to be sheriff for a day

(Forks)-- Tomorrow will be a special day in Clallam County as a 12-year old Forks boy will assume the role of sheriff for the day.
Ethan Gossard of Forks will be wearing a hand-tailored uniform as he is sworn in this Thursday, as the County's honorary Sheriff at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission in Burien. This annual event will see roughly 40 children sponsored by various police agencies as a sheriff or chief for a day. This years group of kids range in age from 3 to 14.
Ethan's challenge is health-related. The 7th grader was diagnosed with a form of Cerebral Palsy as an infant. He recently underwent a medical procedure to improve his walking ability, but still receives continuous medical care for his condition.
Ethan will be sworn in by Sheriff Bill Benedict, and then enjoy a day that includes an up close look at SWAT Teams, K-9 units, aviation units an other specialized police teams.
