Unemployment back up again in Clallam County

(Port Angeles) Unemployment rates ticked up slightly last month in Clallam County.

According to state figures, Clallam County's unemployment rate was 6.9 percent in July.

That's up two tenths of a point from June. It is nearly two percent lower than last July.

Clallam County added nearly two hundred additional non-farm jobs between June and July.

The number of employed ticked up by about 70 people while the number of unemployed jumped by 50.

The region saw slight gains in employment in nearly every sector, the biggest losses came in education and business services.

Jefferson County's unemployment rate stayed at 6.5 percent last month, the same as June.

Statewide, the unemployment rate is 5.4 percent.
