Local Rotarty club preps to shutter Arts in Action event

August 28th, 2014 - 5:55am

(Port Angeles) Next weekend marks the last Arts in Action for Port Angeles.

But organizers of the event, hope other groups or individuals may agree to help and keep the annual festival of artisans, sand sculptures and music alive.

Nor'Wester Rotary has sponsored and organized the event that now takes place at City Pier for 35 years.

But the club is having tougher times getting volunteers as the event has gotten too big for the members of the club. The event has also become too costly.

Steve Zenovic has led the club's Arts in Action efforts. He says the club hopes the event could continue with help from the community.

Arts in Action has been around for nearly half a century since its inception as a local artisans' outlet.

The final run of Arts in Action will be September 5th-7th.
